Lately “tour of duty” in Indian armed forces has been talked about a lot. And to give it a further push, Government of India has now come up with Agneepath Recruitment Scheme. It will allow people who want to become a part of Indian armed forces to enter into the forces through this new entry and opportunity available. Be it Indian Army, Indian Navy, or Indian Air Force. Agneepath Army Bharti Scheme is a central government scheme for all Indian candidates. Those who will get selected for this recruitment process will be called as “Agniveers“.

What Is The Agnipath Scheme?
- The Agnipath Entry Scheme, A Proposal By The Central Government, Is A New Name Given To The “Tour Of Duty” Entry Scheme.
- The Scheme Allows Youngsters To Join The Indian Armed Forces As Soldiers For A Period Of Three Years, A Move That Could Significantly Reduce The Expenditure And The Age Profile Of The Defence Forces. As Of Now, Soldiers Are Recruited Into The Armed Forces On A Permanent Basis.
- Discussions On The Tour Of Duty Scheme Started 2 Years Ago. The Scheme Comes At A Time When There Are 1.25 Lakh Vacancies In The Defence Forces And The Recruitment Of Soldiers In The Armed Forces Has Been Halted Since The Last 2 Years Due To COVID-19 Pandemic.
- The Scheme Has Been Planned And Prepared By The Department Of Military Affairs Presently Led By Additional Secretary Lt Gen Anil Puri.
How Does The Agnipath Scheme Work?
- Candidates Must Be Between 18 And 24 Years To Apply For The Scheme. They Will Have To Qualify Physical Efficiency Test. Educational Requirements Will Be The Same As That Of The Indian Army.
- After Completion Of The Three-year Stint, The Defence Forces May Retain, Around 20-25% Of Best Agniveers For Longer Tenures While Releasing The Others For Civilian Jobs.
- Those Who Get Relieved From Duty Will Be Aided In Getting Placed In Civilian Jobs. Several Corporate Houses Have Shown Interest In Recruiting These Military-Trained Agniveers.

Benefit to the Agniveers recruited through AGNIPATH Recruitment Scheme:
Agniveers will be given an attractive customised monthly package along with Risk and Hardship allowances as applicable in the three services. On completion of the engagement period of four years, Agniveers will be paid one time 'Seva Nidhi' package which shall comprise their contribution including accrued interest thereon and matching contribution from the Government equal to the accumulated amount of their contribution including interest as indicated below:

- The 'Seva Nidhi' will be exempt from Income Tax. There shall be no entitlement to gratuity and pensionary benefits. Agniveers will be provided non-contributory Life Insurance Cover of Rs 48 lakhs for the duration of their engagement period in the Indian Armed Forces.
- Under the AGNIPATH s che me, the Agniveers will be enrolled in the Forces under respective Service Acts for a period of four years. They would form a distinct rank in the Armed Forces, different from any other existing ranks. Upon the completion of four years of service, based on organisa tional requirement and policies promulgated by the Armed Forces from time-to-time, Agniueers will be offered an opportunity to apply for permanent enrolment in the Armed Forces. These applications will be considered in a centralised manner based on objective criteria including performance during their four year engagement period and up to 25% of each specific batch of Agniveers will be enrolled in regular cadre of the Arm ed Forces. Detailed guidelines will be issued separately.
- Enrollment will be undertaken through an online centralised system for all three services with specialised rallies and campus interviews from recognised technical institutes such as Industrial Training Institu tes and National Skills Qualifications Framework, among others. Enrollment will be based on 'AU India All Class ' basis and the eligible age will be in range from 17.5 to 21 years. Agniveers will meet the medical eligibility conditions laid down for enrolment in the armed forces as applicable to respective categories/trades. The educational qualification for Agniveers will remain as in vogue for enrollment in various categories. {For example: For entry into General Duty (GD) soldier, the educational qualification is Class 10}.

త్రివిధ దళాల్లో మమేకమై దేశానికి సేవచేయాలని భావిస్తున్న యువతకు కేంద్రం చక్కని అవకాశమిస్తోంది. తొలిసారిగా నాలుగేళ్ల కాలపరిమితితో ‘అగ్నిపథ్’ పేరిట ఓ సర్వీసును ప్రారంభించనుంది. వారికి సాంకేతిక నైపుణ్యం అందించడంతో పాటు క్రమశిక్షణ కలిగినవారిగా తీర్చిదిద్దనుంది. దీనికి సంబంధించిన వివరాలు మీ కోసం ది లోకల్ హబ్ డాట్ ఇన్ వెబ్సైట్ లో కలదు . ‘అగ్నిపథ్’ కింద తొలిబ్యాచ్లో 45వేల మందికి అవకాశమిచ్చేందుకు త్వరలో టూర్ ఆఫ్ డ్యూటీ(టీవోడీ) పేరిట ప్రత్యేక ర్యాలీలు నిర్వహించనుంది.

- ఆర్మీ సర్వీసు పూర్తయ్యాక మెరుగైన ప్యాకేజీతో పాటు తుది దశ ఎంపికలో ప్రతిభ చూపిన 25 శాతం మందికి శాశ్వత కమిషన్లో పనిచేసేందుకు అవకాశమివ్వనుంది.
- అగ్నిపథ్లో చేరిన యువతకు సైనికులతో సమానంగా ర్యాంకులు, వేతనాలు, గౌరవాన్నీ ఇస్తుంది. అగ్నివీర్ స్కిల్ సర్టిఫికెట్ మంజూరుతో పాటు పదవీ విరమణ తరువాత ఉపాధి అవకాశాలు పొందేలా నిబంధనల్లో మార్పులు చేయనుంది.
- ఈ నెలలోనే అగ్నిపథ్ నియామకానికి సంబంధించి ప్రకటన వెలువరించే అవకాశాలున్నట్లు రక్షణవర్గాలు వెల్లడించాయి.
ఎంపిక మరియు ప్రవేశం ఇలా..
వైద్యపరీక్షల్లో ఉత్తీర్ణత, ఇతర అర్హతలు ఉన్నవారికే అగ్నిపథ్లో ప్రవేశం లభిస్తుంది. ఆసక్తిగల అభ్యర్థులు కేంద్ర డేటాబేస్లో పేర్లు నమోదు చేసుకోవాలి. ఎంపికలు ఆటోమేటెడ్ పద్ధతిలో జరుగుతాయి. ఎంపికైన వారందరికీ రెగ్యులర్ కేడర్లో ప్రవేశానికి అర్హత లభిస్తుంది. ప్రతిబ్యాచ్లో 25శాతం మందికే ఈ అవకాశం దక్కుతుంది. అగ్నివీరులుగా ఎంపికైన వారికి ఏదైనా రెజిమెంట్, యూనిట్, సంస్థలో పోస్టింగ్తో పాటు సైనిక బలగాల తరహాలో ర్యాంకు ఇస్తారు. సర్వీసులో మెరుగైన ప్రతిభ చూపినవారికి సేవాపతకాలు లభిస్తాయి. పనిచేసిన కాలానికి వేతనం నుంచి 30 శాతాన్ని సేవానిధి ప్యాకేజీ కింద తీసుకుంటారు. దీనికి సమానంగా కేంద్రం తనవంతు జమచేస్తుంది. నాలుగేళ్ల సర్వీసు అనంతరం ఏకమొత్తంగా రూ. 11.71 లక్షల నిధి(పన్ను మినహాయింపుతో) అందిస్తుంది. బ్యాంకు నుంచి రూ.16.5 లక్షల రుణసదుపాయం కల్పిస్తుంది.
తగ్గనున్న ఆర్థిక భారం...
‘అగ్నిపథ్’ను అధికారులు, సైనికుల విభాగాల్లో ప్రారంభించాలని మూడేళ్ల క్రితమే భావించారు. రెండేళ్లుగా కరోనా కారణంగా అమలుకు నోచలేదు. తాజాగా సైనికుల విభాగం వరకు అమలుచేయాలని నిర్ణయించింది. తద్వారా ఆర్మీలో వేతనాలు, పింఛన్ల భారం తగ్గించవచ్చని భావిస్తోంది. మిగులు నిధులతో ఆర్మీ ఆధునికీకరణకు వెసులుబాటు లభించనుంది. తక్కువ కాలపరిమితి(షార్ట్) సర్వీసు కమిషన్ కింద యువతకు అవకాశం ఇవ్వడంతో ప్రస్తుతం ఆర్మీ బెటాలియన్లలో సగటు వయసు 35-36 ఏళ్ల నుంచి 25-26 ఏళ్లకు తగ్గనుంది.
